Shortly after combing with three different bowlers to help dismiss Sri Lanka’s top order on Sunday night, the Tasmanian wicket-keeper was confirmed in the Tigers’ next Sheffield Shield team.
The 32-year-old, who played just four Shield matches last season, has been restricted to Futures League and club cricket this summer.
However, when Cricket Tasmania named its Futures League side to take on ACT at Manuka Oval, chairman of selectors Michael Farrell said Paine’s absence meant he would be making a first-class return against NSW in Wollongong from February 25.
“Tim’s wicketkeeping remains at a very high standard and he has played consistently well,” he said.
Farrell said Ben McDermott, Jake Hancock and Andrew Perrin have also been included in the Shield side while Jake Doran, Jordan Silk and Cameron Boyce have dropped into the Futures League side.
