Energy prices
ENERGY Minister Matthew Groom states that Tasmanian energy prices have fallen and that we actually are among the lowest energy prices in Australia (The Examiner, February 14), but page 13 of the same issue states Tasmanian power costs are the highest in the country (as listed in a mainland paper).

Given the empty lake debacle last year when poor, greedy decision-making by Mr Groom resulted in a near catastrophic power situation for this state, I am more than inclined to believe the latter. For Mr Groom to then take a cheap shot at The Greens about preferring to empty dams in preference to importing energy I remind him that he was only saved from the total humiliation of empty dams by a last minute rain event.

Donald Trump
I’M BETTING the world’s hostile, left-wing arm of the media are secretly celebrating the election of Donald Trump. Every “mis-step” the famously politically incorrect President allegedly makes is magnified out of all proportion causing the desired effect of negative mass hysteria.
Churning out this type of news will be a never ending cash cow for the media for the next four, possibly eight years, so they must be thanking their lucky stars. Give the poor man a break, and a chance to fulfill all the promises he’s made to “Make America Great Again”.

Liberal preference
JUST HOW desperate is Colin Barnett to try and cling to power in Western Australia? Surely those who vote for the Liberal Party have a right to expect that any preferences would flow to a party sharing similar values. Senator Arthur Sinodinos has stated that One Nation is a more sophisticated party than it was 20 years ago, perhaps he should read their policy statement. If merely substituting Muslims for Asians who are threatening to swamp the country, denying climate change exists and a flat rate of taxation is any improvement from 20 years ago, well yes, they have reached new heights.
