Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff announced the $650,000 funding during a visit to Kings Meadows High School, which was one of the grant recipients.
The funding included four associations, each receiving a grant of $157,000 to drive improved teaching practices and better literacy and numeracy outcomes.
“This is all about ensuring we have the right pedagogy, building our skills within our teachers and imparting those skills as well on other teachers across our schools.
“It’s a key investment in literacy and numeracy, encouraging associations of schools to get together and there are four associations that we’re announcing today that are successful grant recipients – Circular Head, Meander, Kings Meadows and Huonville.”
Kings Meadows principal Maree Pinnington said staff and students were excited to be involved in the project.
“We have a really strong association with our primary schools already… and we are really committed to ensuring that our students, when they transition from year 6 to year 7, come not only with that social and emotional support transition, but learning transition.
“Being involved in this project will enable us to release staff to share best practices across primary and high schools, which will be fantastic to ensure when our students come here it’s a really seamless academic transition as well as that social and emotional support transition.”
