It’s quite a busy weekend in Tasmania, with a bunch of events on – think Festivale and the sold-out Party in the Paddock. Another is the annual FRACTANGULAR GATHERING at Buckland. The two-day event will showcase bands, producers and DJs from across the world, as well as host its own community with markets, art installations, and more. Limited final release tickets are still available for $190, plus booking fees, for adults.
Next week sees another return of the 90s. B*WITCHED will be in Hobart next week, on a nostalgia tour with Atomic Kitten, S Club 3 (they lost four members since we saw them last), East 17, and Liberty X. The tour hits Tasmania on Wednesday, February 15, at Hobart’s Wrest Point. Tickets are on sale through tixtas.com.au for $89.90.
Launceston band CARDINELS will lead the city through a showcase of raw Tassie talent later this month. The band will be supported by The Midways, and Dark Dunes, when they play at Club 54. The gig takes place on February 24, from 9pm, and entry is $5.
The gigs aren’t slowing down next month, with Tasmanian-born ASTA to return to the state for a run of shows. The singer-songwriter is on her Shine tour, in the wake of releasing her debut EP this month. Asta will perform at Launceston’s Club 54 on March 18. Tickets are on sale now through Oztix for $23.50.
Launceston-Melbourne band MUSTANG are finally wrapping it up. The frenetic band has gained a cult following over its 20-year lifespan. They’re bidding farewell in the most fitting of places, Launceston’s Gunners Arms Tavern, on April 1. They’re dragging in an all-star support list with Warped, Desecrator, Meatbeaters, The Dukes of Deliciousness, Hownowmers, and Tasmania’s own The Styles all on board. Tickets are strictly limited.
And it may be a while away yet, but SHANNON NOLL is heading to Tassie in June. Nollsy found a popularity resurgence last year, and he’s been hot property ever since. You can see Nollsy in action at Wrest Point in Hobart on June 23, and at Country Club Tasmania in Launceston the following day. Tickets are $40, through tixtas.com.au
