Katherine Dodds has been named Dorset Council’s Citizen of the Year.

The Scottsdale Visitor Information Centre volunteer was presented with the major award at a ceremony in Scottsdale last month, having been nominated by fellow volunteers.

The award for Young Citizen of the Year went to under-18 state footballer Hannah Viney, while Kaye Jaffray took out Volunteer of the Year.

Organisers of the Legerwood Hall New Year’s fundraiser were rewarded for another successful instalment in 2016, collecting Event of the Year, while Dorset sporting stalwart Shaun Krushka won the sports award.

A number of volunteers including Ashley Styles, Tess Moore, Trevor Smith and Derryce Falls were also recognised at the ceremony.
