In the men’s draw it was young Australian Chris O’Connell who made it through to the quarter-finals after an impressive win on centre court.
O’Connell knocked out Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in two sets on Wednesday afternoon to book his place in the final eight.
The match was extremely close between the pair with O’Connell winning 7-6, 7-5 against the seventh seeded player of the tournament.
Australian trio Alex Bolt, Blake Mott and qualifier Maverick Banes also progressed through to the quarter finals with dominant wins on Wednesday.

Bolt defeated qualifier Dayne Kelly 6-3, 6-4 while Mott kept up his form to knock out Egyptian Mohamed Safwat 7-6, 6-3.
Banes continued his rise from qualifying with a straight sets win over American Noah Rubin 7-6, 6-4.
Experienced Australian Matthew Ebden also cruised through to the final eight with a straight sets win over Slovenian talent Blaz Rola, 6-4, 6-4.
There were a few more upsets in the women’s competition as well with Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova defeating her fellow Czech and number seven seed Barbora Stefkova, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Qualifier Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada also progressed impressively in her match against the number one seed Xinyun Han.
Wozniak took the match 6-3, 6-2 to well and truly put her name among the favourites for the tournament.
Number two seed Taylor Townsend of America also cruised through to the final eight while Russian-born Aussie and former champion, Arina Rodionova won a thrilling three-set match over 16-year-old Destanee Aiava on centre court, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
In doubles action, Aussie pair Naiktha Bians and Sara Tomic progressed following a walkover against fellow Aussie’s Jess Moore and Storm Sanders.
The pairing of Japan’s Riko Sawayanagi and Czech Barbora Stefkova was also successful after defeating Frances’ Alize Lim and Bulgaria’s Aleksandrina Naydenova in straight sets.
Afternoon rain had an impact on scheduled games on Wednesday but another doubles match did proceed with Katy Dunne of the UK) and Aussie talent Priscilla Hon defeating Tammi Patterson and Olivia Rogowska 6-4, 6-3.
In the evening matches it was Aussie Luke Saville who went down to Dmitry Popko and Omar Jasika defeated fellow Aussie Matthew Barton 6-1, 7-5.
