However, he is under no illusions with 96 overs of cricket to be played.
The Eagles will resume on Saturday at 3-100 – just 28 runs behind the Lions’ first innings total – with LeFevre 24 not out and Clinton Reid unbeaten on 29 on a wicket that is reportedly playing mind games.
“We need to turn up to day two focused and hopefully create a few partnerships with the bat,” he said.
“Our main priority is getting those first innings points if we can and then we’ll assess where the game sits.
“Cricket is a pretty funny game at times so we won’t be counting any chickens before they hatch.”
Rik Considine, who picked up 3-38 last week, will be swapped out of the Eagles’ line-up for fellow paceman Jerome Illingworth.
Launceston captain Rowan Smith said quick wickets was an obvious aim. “We’ll need to come up with some pretty good balls to remove Reid and LeFevre for a start to have any chance of winning on first innings,” Smith said.
“It was a funny wicket where it was playing a little poopy in places but also keeping low.”

Smith has claimed all three Mowbray wickets so far with figures of 3-26 from eight overs.
WESTBURY are in a commanding position against South Launceston at NTCA No.2 Ground.
The visitors dismissed the Knights for a paltry 105 in 50.1 overs last Saturday before working their way to a 10-run lead at the close of play.
Shaun Leatherbarrow is untroubled on 33 and wicket-keeper Daniel Murfet is nine not out with the Shamrocks at 2-115 off 39 overs.
Knights skipper Alec Smith was deflated with his team’s performance on day one but was intent on staying upbeat for the final three sessions.
“They completely outplayed us… (and) we’re not in the best position but we have to be positive on Saturday,” he said.
“We need to strike early with the ball and try and win the big moments.”
An unavailable Jeremy Jackson will be subbed out for James Beattie.
Westbury captain Michael Lukic said the opening 60 minutes on Saturday could make or break the match for them.
“If we can consolidate on the lead we have got then we are in a pretty good position,” he said.
“There was a little bit in the wicket last week so if we lose early wickets that will open up the door for them.
“Jono Chapman will go out and Kieren Hume will come in… so it will be a good chance, if he gets a chance, to spend some time in the middle.”
Smith (1-16) and Luke Johnson (1-15) are South’s wicket-takers to date with seven players already having a trundle.
