Victim spokeswoman Danya Dennison urge City of Launceston Aldermen to re-think their decision to allow convicted paedophile John Wayne Millwood to retain a council heritage award.

She addressed the council at its Monday meeting and submitted a petition with more than 350 signatures.
“I wrote to council in November urging you to revoke this prize in order to send a message to our community that we have zero tolerance for these sex crimes against children,” she said.
“You refused. You took the view that the award had been made to a building, not a person, despite your website stating that the Launceston Heritage Awards were established in order to recognise people for sensitively restoring their heritage home.”
Mayor Albert van Zetten said he “had a phone call with [the victim and] it actually changed my view to hear the opinion from someone else. I can guarantee you that it will be on the agenda at the next meeting and I am sure the notice of motion will pass unanimously."
