“Stopping at Campbell Town is a time-honoured Tasmanian tradition for those travelling from Hobart to Launceston or vice versa, and having quality facilities available will ensure this continues,” Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding said on Saturday.
“Fatigue is a key contributor to road crashes and it is important that all drivers take regular rests during long journeys.
“Over the last decade, investment by Northern Midlands Council in facilities at Valentine Park has increased Campbell Town's popularity as a rest stop.”
The commitment is part of the state’s 2010 Midland Highway Partnership Agreement.
