Cape Wickham was ranked the number one public course in Australia while Ocean Dunes ranked fourth.
In the 2017 rankings released by Golf Australia, the top four best courses in the nation are located in Northern Tasmania.
While King Island courses were voted number one and four, the second and third best courses were Barnbougle Dunes and Barnbougle Lost Farms at Bridport.
Cradle Coast Authority Regional Tourism manager Ian Waller said it was a feather in the North-West Coast’s cap to have the two courses rated so highly.
“It just reinforces the amazing popularity of Tassie as a golfing destination,” he beamed.
Mr Waller attributed the success of King Island’s Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes golf courses to “people that are passionate about golf” who “identify amazing locations for golf courses”.
“King Island has struck a chord with those creative golf designers,” he said.
At $150 for 18 holes, Cape Wickham was ranked number one for its “jaw-dropping oceanside location”.
While amazing produce and pristine coastline remains the core of the island’s identity Mr Waller said golf would acquire a larger share.
“There's been occasions when the tarmac at the airport has been overflowing with charter flights from all over the world for golf,” Mr Waller added.
\There are also rumours of more course development due to the island’s attractive topography.
