Ambulance volunteer Lorraine Gardiner said the group raised the funds after organising the Tamar Valley expo, raffles and stalls at the Exeter Market.
“It delivers CPR (the defibrillator) effectively and it really does save lives,” she said.
“Usually the first one on the scene is the most effective at saving a life, so if they have access to the AED, then possibly they will save a life,” volunteer Anne Hague said.
IGA X-press Beaconsfield manager Mark Austin said all staff would be trained in how to use the defibrillator, which gives a step by step explanation when you activate it, and measures your heart rhythm.
