The hosts resumed day two at 3-104 just 113 runs behind the Lions with Kieran Hume and Shaun Letherbarrow both unbeaten on 21 each.
However, Leatherbarrow added just one more to his total and Hume went not long after for 30 in a dramatic collapse that saw the Shamrocks lose three for nought and bowled out for 178 chasing 217. Tailender Jonathon Chapman chipped in with 30 runs late, as Dom Rawlings picked up three wickets to finish the match with 5-54 off 21 overs. Tom Gray also collected 3-43.
Alastair Taylor was the star of Launceston’s second innings, working his way to an unbeaten century.
Taylor was 100 when play was abandoned, with first innings centurion Zac Oldenhof compiling 24 to end the match with 155 runs to his name. Both Chapman (2-38) and Nathan Parkin (2-28) fought hard for Westbury with the ball.
“We haven’t really had a successful year so far, so to pair two wins together is a good thing,” Lions captain Rowan Smith said.
“Dom and Tom bowled in good areas… (and) we had the opportunity to get some time into our batters and for Alastair to take advantage of that was good.”
SOUTH LAUNCESTON defeated Riverside by 115 runs on first innings.
The Knights started day two in a comfortable position at NTCA No.2 Ground with a 264-run advantage after amassing 297 last weekend.
The Blues started at 0-34 before Jack Hunt was the first to go with just 10 runs added.
Tom Garwood dug deep for 45, while Jack Williams made his way to 26 to no avail as the South rolled the visitors for 182 in 72.4 overs.
Jack Young (3-59) and captain Alec Smith (3-19) were damaging for South Launceston before they enforced the follow on.
In their second innings, Garwood again performed with 55 at the top of the order as they finished 3-85 at the end of the day’s play.
Jeremy Jackson claimed all three wickets in a fiery four over spell to boast figures of 3-10.
“We bowled really well in partnerships and we won a couple of big moments, getting two quick wickets just before lunch, which was a big turning point,” Smith said.
“We thought we would try and have a crack at an innings win but they batted well.”
