The Liena bridge has been out of action since the June floods, leaving residents on the Gads Hill side of the river to negotiate rough roads and farm tracks to exit the village.
In an effort to lift spirits, the Rotary club set out midway through last month to distribute Christmas hampers to 12 families who had been affected by the broken bridge.
Deloraine Rotary community service director Lesley Dare said the response from the families had been overwhelming.
“We felt we should do something to make sure the residents didn't feel as though everyone had forgotten them,” Mrs Dare said.
“They were nearly in tears to think that they hadn't been forgotten and they were part of the community, it was a really good feeling.”
