Salvation Army regional manager Anita Reeve said the focus of the Launceston Community Christmas was on bringing the whole community together.
“We’ve really encouraged the community event, so it’s really not about targeting any group specifically, just for people that want to come and experience Christmas today,” she said.
“We’ve been really pleased with the response.
“It’s been well-thought-out and a great event.”
Ms Reeve said the day was made possible chiefly thanks to the efforts of a large number of volunteers and the generous donations of local businesses and individuals, including IGA.
This year’s event was coordinated by City Mission, St Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, the Launceston Benevolent Society, and Colony 47 in partnership with the City of Launceston.
