As part of the deal, the retiring Felipe Massa has indicated he is prepared to come back to Williams as lead driver, with Canadian rookie Lance Stroll in the second car.
Stroll’s billionaire father has reputedly spent $80 million to get his 18-year-old son into Formula One, but he has very limited testing experience in the Williams car and if Bottas goes to Mercedes Benz, Williams would be desperate for an experienced driver.
