Rustic and romantic are the two words that come to mind when talking about Highfield Historic Site in Stanley.
The convict built house with chapel and barn date back to the 1800’s and has seen a lot of history in its 184 year period.
Having been left in a derelict state for many years it has been lovingly restored by the Parks and Wildlife Service over the last 34 years.
Highfield Historic Site is now welcoming weddings and functions so your special day can add to the history and romance of the property.
“Highfield is really the full package wedding destination,” said site coordinator Lesa Scott.
“Couples can have their full day here from service, to photos and reception, with many opting to also have drinks and nibbles the following day also, really making use of the grounds and facilities.”
Couples have access to Highfield Historic Site and the grounds for the whole weekend to ensure catering setup and decoration can take place on a Friday, celebrations on the Saturday and clean up on the Sunday.
“We are all about low stress weddings and want everything to run as smoothly as possible for your big day, there will always be someone on hand to answer questions and make sure you get the most out of what Highfield can offer.”

The onsite chapel can be used for the service and can hold a maximum of 70 guests, while the barn for the reception can accommodate 100.
Alternatively the landscaped grounds provide the perfect back drop for your wedding ceremony, taking in spectacular views of the surrounding coast line and historic Stanley village.
Photos can be taken around the estate, in the ornamental and beautifully landscaped gardens, within the restored house and around the outbuildings.
“The grounds are a photographers dream, the gardens and stables are so unique and the stonework always shows up nicely in photos,” said Lesa.
Parks and Wildlife has just used a $430,000 grant to repurpose the barn for function use, this included laying new floors and installing a full preparation kitchen, money was also used in the conservation and restoration of Highfield Historic Site.
Your guests can experience the beauty of the north-west coast, aptly named “the edge of the world”, with a range of accommodation options available to suit all budgets and plenty of activities and sites to see locally.
