“We lost two of our real big fellas for the game,” Gorillas coach Brett Wheldon said.
“They definitely had the larger team than us in regard to body size.”
The reigning Tiger Bowl II champions showed their ability to reshuffle the team towards a 22-8 victory over Hobart Knights on Saturday.
“We only had 20 guys suited up,” Wheldon said.
“But the guys played real well and meshed together very nicely.”
Fullback Mitch Lee scored a touchdown for the visitors and backed up his run to punch up the conversion.
Makeshift wide receiver Taz Little also crossed to seal a 4-0 regular season at the halfway mark of the year.
Wheldon has now set a new challenge for his side.
“Absolutely it’s our aim to go undefeated,” he said.
In the state junior division, Launceston Lions went down 42-26 to Hobart Renegades.
