Every year, for the last six years, Mr Bowerman spends nearly three months decorating his family home with Christmas lights.
His mum Sally said it has cost her a fortune.
“This year he has got a lot more up than ever before, but my power bill really isn’t that much. They’re all LEDs so they’re low voltage,” she said.
The experience uses more than 80 powerboards. Along with supplying lolly bags to the children, Mr Bowerman also has a wishing well out the front of his house. Each year he donates the money to a charity, Bonorong Wildlife Park is the 2016 recipient.
“It’s gradually just built up over the years, we keep an eye on Gumtree and buy lights from where ever. We’ve driven to Hobart before with a tandem trailer and brought a whole bunch of lights back with us,” she said.
“He likes pleasing other people and he gets a real buzz out of other people telling him he’s done a good job, he is such a special and heartfelt kid. He loves seeing the kids faces.”
“He has autism and a lot of other medical challenges… he does the lights display by himself.”
Their home is located at Chris St Prospect. For more information on the location of Christmas lights in Launceston, view The Examiner’s map online. Registrations are still open.
