Former Launceston swimmer Ariarne Titmus has put in an outstanding performance to finish fourth in the 800-metre freestyle event at the FINA World Short Course Championships in Windsor, Canada.

The Queensland-based, former St Patrick’s College student swam a time of 8:17.95, taking a further eight seconds off the PB time she posted in her heat swim of 8:25.85.
The triple national age-group champion moved with her family to Brisbane last year to pursue her swimming dream and enhance her chances of international selection.
She was picked in Australian teams for the world junior championships in Singapore and the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in 2015.
The 16-year-old made her first national senior selection in the 20-strong Dolphins team for the world short-course championships.
