The Tasmanian Fire Service said there had been no need to evacuate and the fire is being regularly monitored from the air at regular intervals.
Eight Parks and Wildlife crews were due to arrive on the island on Thursday, December 8 to assist with fire fighting operations throughout the weekend.
The total size of the fire, which started at Thunder and Lightning Bay, is 26,518 hectares.
