The occupants of two vehicles have escaped with minor injuries after a head-on collision on the Bass Highway near Ashley Youth Detention Centre.

Both vehicles were carrying a driver and a passenger. 

Police transported several of the occupants from the scene shortly before 8pm.

Traffic is now flowing smoothly. 

EARLIER

A two-vehicle crash is blocking the Bass Highway near Ashley Youth Detention Centre.

Tasmania Police reported the crash about 6.45pm on Tuesday.  

It is unknown if anyone has been injured in the crash.
