While visitors sewed up the women’s competition on Monday, the hosts showed plenty of resolve to split the series on the final day to leave the scoreline at 4-1.
But it was in the men’s division that the action really heated up, with the result not decided until the final end of the final rink of the final test.
Tasmania took the lead in the morning’s fourth test, defeating Victoria 53-51 despite going down in two of the three games.
Victoria stormed back to win the fifth test 53-50 in the afternoon and tie the series, as Tasmanian skip Lee Schraner was unable to overturn a one-shot deficit on the final end with his last bowl.
The tie saw the visitors keep the shield as defending champions.
Penguin’s Chris Dudman was named Tasmanian player of the series for the men, while Trevallyn’s Bree Mabb won the women’s award.
