Comedian Dave Thornton will be in Launceston to headline Fresh Comedy’s Christmas extravaganza. Thornton said audiences would be treated to exclusive material from his 2017 show Onwards and Upwards.
Thornton is a busy bloke. He’s the co-host of the FOX FM breakfast show in Melbourne, and his face regularly appears on the television.
He’s familiar with Tassie, too, and first visited the state aged five. He’s since been back for the Falls Festival Marion Bay multiple times.
“But now I’m in my 30s and have a (newborn) daughter, I stroll down to Salamanca Markets and talk about what cheese and what wine go together,” Thornton said.
Despite headlining Fresh’s comedy show, don’t expect too many festive-themed jokes from Thornton. And definitely don’t ask to share a bonbon with him.
“This is one of the treacherous things about being a comedian, at Christmas, after the wine and the eggnog, someone in my family does the bonbon and pulls out the joke and turns to me: ‘You’ll like this one!’,” he said.
“And no, no I won’t. I’m not saying I’m a refined wine but wouldn’t offer a sommelier a cheap wine.”
The Fresh Comedy Christmas extravaganza is at the Royal Oak Hotel on December 16. Tickets are on sale at Trybooking.com.
