The men’s squad tied their opening Test of the day with Victoria before winning the afternoon to keep their hopes of getting their hands on the shield alive.
They must now win their remaining two Tests on Monday to collect the Shield.
Victoria and Tasmania were level at 62-62 each after the morning Test. Tasmania then defeated Victoria 57-43 in the afternoon.
The women are out of the running for the VLBA Shield after losing both their Tests on Monday.
Victoria won 60-50 in the first Test of the day, with the follow-up match going right down to the wire.
The Tasmanians went down 55-54 in the afternoon.
Bowls Tasmania’s Warren Groves was confident that the men could get their hands on their shield, saying they were “bowling really well”.
The final day’s matches at the Spreyton Bowls Club will start at 8am on Tuesday.
