Seymour led Tasmania to a 17-run win over Vic Metro.
Despite a disappointing personal start to the tournament, out for just two, off as many deliveries, the all-rounder bounced back with the ball, taking 1-46 off nine overs as his team restricted the Vics’ efforts to chase down Tassie’s score of 6-234 at Adelaide University Park.
Freeman made nine runs off six balls before being caught and bowled by Lawrence Neil-Smith as the CA XI – comprising the best players from this season’s under-17 national championships – posted 200 at Railway Oval.
Reigning champions NSW Metro surpassed the total with nine wickets to spare, Ryan Hackney doing most of the damage with 97 not out and Jordan Gauci adding an unbeaten 61.
The only Tasmanian in the CA XI side, Freeman went wicketless for 33 runs as the only bowler to complete 10 overs.
Ten teams from across the country are vying for the national crown in a tournament that runs until Thursday, December 15.
Also competing are ACT/NSW Country, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria Country and Western Australia.
