Cycling Tasmania executive officer Collin Burns reported a successful event that saw a healthy 35 junior riders including 15 in the under-13s.
He said among the most popular results was Zack Gilmore finishing runner-up in the men’s wheel race on his returns to competition following extensive treatment for non-hodgkin Lymphoma.
Father and coach Matthew Gilmore said it was the first time Zack had raced since his diagnosis 12 months ago.
“To say we are a proud family is an understatement,” he said. “The support and encouragement Zack received was fantastic and we are so grateful to our cycling community.
“Knowing what Zack has gone through in the last 12 months and is still enduring with ongoing treatment certainly puts many things in perspective. Seeing his smiling face doing what he loves doing was an absolute highlight for us all.”
