Smith’s unbeaten knock helped the NTCA team chase down the North-West’s total of 5-262 off their 50 overs, finishing at 7-264, in reply off 47.1 overs.
“It was pretty pleasing, I was really happy to get some runs especially in a difficult run chase which was probably the most pleasing thing,” he said. “We had genuine batsmen batting at nine so we always thought we could get the runs no matter how many wickets were down so no panic stations.
“I would say it was probably one of my better innings having to do it batting second and chasing a big score so it would be up there for sure career-wise.”
Cricket North captain John Le Fevre said his side did well to hold the NW to 262 from where they were early and said the victory was a great team effort.
