A 35-year-old man living in Launceston has been charged over historic child sex offences.

He faces charges relating to reports of two girls under the age of 10 being sexually assaulted in the Hunter Region in New South Wales in 2006.
The victims were eight and 10-years-old at the time of the alleged abuse.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad Newcastle began their investigations in 2010 however a man they believed could assist them with their inquiries could not be located.
With assistance from Tasmania Police, detectives said they discovered the man had been living in Launceston and a warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this year.
The man appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was extradited to New South Wales on outstanding warrants.
After arriving in Newcastle on Wednesday, he was taken to the Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was formally charged.
He was charged with seven counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10 and two counts of assault with intent to have sexual intercourse with a child under 10.
He appeared in the Maitland Local Court on Thursday but did not enter a plea.
Bail was refused and he was remanded to reappear via video link in the Newcastle Local Court on December 7, 2016.
