That was just one of the sickening elements of what constituted Dean Anthony Briers's catalogue of offending, the court was told.
The 46-year-old - formerly of Bain Terrace, Trevallyn, before he moved to Staverton Road, Sheffield, was caught with 42,300 child pornography pictures and 1406 videos when he was raided by the Australian Federal Police last year.
Of those images - discovered on his personal computer, discs, diskettes, a hard drive and a DVD - nearly 5000 showed children being raped by adults, and 296 fit into the worst category of child pornography offences - sadism and bestiality involving children.
Briers made 26,000 files available to those who shared his sexual preference for children, many of which involved toddlers and babies.
Police also located hundreds of pages of conversations Briers had with other child sex offenders online using services such as Google Hello (now defunct), Limewire and Gigatribe.
He boasted he had had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old since the boy was eight, and he sent fellow perverts a photo of a boy skateboarding down Paterson Street, saying "this is the friend I play with".
One chat involved a paedophile recounting the sex acts he had just performed on his six-year-old nephew, which prompted Briers to suggest further sex acts he might like to try the next time the child visited.
He actively encouraged others to molest and violate children, Commonwealth prosecutor Elizabeth Curtis told Justice Peter Evans.
He boasted about having sex with a five-year-old in Thailand, and recommended sex with kids in that country, Mexico, Cambodia, and others infamous for child prostitution.
Briers told chatroom users he frequented public toilets in Launceston, taking photos of young boys and watching them urinate while masturbating.
He said he accessed his flatmate's teenage daughter's computer to look at naked photos teenage boys had sent her and he copied those boys' addresses to his own computer.
He expressed a preference for pictures of babies and toddlers and told users it was clear from such pictures the children being violated "enjoyed it".
Ms Curtis asked Justice Evans to watch a half-hour sample of the material, a request that appeared to repel the judge, who closed the court for the purpose.
Briers pleaded guilty to the charges in April in the Magistrates Court.
Justice Evans remanded Briers in custody to be sentenced on September 19 in Hobart.
