Students, teachers and special guests including Tasmanian tourism pioneer Brian Winspear and former head teacher Roger Dixon gathered at the school last week to officially bury the capsule.
The Bicheno Community Development Association's Sallie Brockman said the students had left school uniforms, photos of the school, newspapers and mobile phones in the capsule.
“All the classes were given the task of coming up with some things that would make people in 50 years go ‘oh my goodness’,” she said.
“They also wrote down what they want to be when they grow up, as well as making some predictions about what life might be like in the future.”
The BCDA also facilitated a self-guided history tour and photographic and information displays as part of the sesquicentenary celebrations.
