Taking place at Red Hills Memorial Park, the event will see vintage, modified and mini-modified tractors battle it out across a selection of categories, with competitors hailing from as far away as Victoria.
Deloraine Tractor Pull organiser Danny Saltmarsh said the event had been on hiatus for a number of years before being reinvigorated by the Apex Club of Deloraine.
“There used to be one in Deloraine years ago and then that property got sold and no-one ever took it back on,” Mr Saltmarsh said.
“Then Apex Club of Deloraine took over the old Red Hills Football Ground and we were looking for an annual event to have, we got onto the Tasmanian Tractor Pull Association and they were looking for another tractor pull back this way and it fitted in from there.”
At a tractor pull each competitor is given four attempts at pulling a sled, with the tractor travelling the longest cumulative distance declared the winner.
Mr Saltmarsh said while engine power played a big part in the outcome, driver skill was still of considerable importance.
“It’s like a weighted sled, it tracks 100 metres long so the aim is to try and get the full 100 metres.
“As you go up the track the weight moves forward and puts more load on your tractor and a lot of tractors stop or start spinning.
“There's a knack to it, like picking the right line, because you might hit a soft hole where a tractor's stopped before and started spinning, plus you need to be in the right gear with the right amount of revs, so there's a bit in it.”
Gates will open at 9.30am both days with action kicking off from 10.30am.
