The document promotes the benefits that the logistics and industrial hub offers, including proximity to export markets, ease of access to major transport systems, co-location with other businesses, and connectivity to established infrastructure.
Mr Gutwein said the area was already home to more than 100 established businesses, which had invested hundreds of millions of dollars into the Northern Midlands.
“What this prospectus is going to do is open the door to even more,” he said.
“It sets out for investors what’s available here at the site. The transport links, the opportunities in respect of the energy supply, rail, water, and provides a clear snapshot of what is available right here close to the airport and close to Launceston.”
Within the precinct there are about 30 parcels of land, representing approximately 60 hectares, with all vacant parcels greater than 2000 metres squared.
Councillor Downie said the precinct was an example of good planning, where a industrial development could be further promoted with plenty of room the grow.
He said the council had identified a further 90 hectares as a defined expansion area, and had an additional 130 hectares earmarked for investigation into the future.
“It’s also flat land so it’s easy to covert, and it’s close proximity to the airport and also its proximity to the arterial roads, so from Translink you can reach out to the South, North-West and North-East.”
The council is also having discussions with TasRail regarding the potential development of a satellite rail terminal facility in the heart of the precinct.
The prospectus was developed by the Office of the Coordinator-General which worked closely with the Northern Midlands Council, the Launceston Airport, TasNetworks, TasWater, TasPorts, TasRail, Statewide Independent Wholesalers and other stakeholders.
