The school’s annual tradition started in 2011 when Morgan Lockwood, now 16, was a grade 5 pupil at the school.
“Mum was battling cancer and I wanted to do something with a couple of mates to support her,” Morgan said.
Morgan’s mother passed away later that year, but she is remembered each year at the school-wide event.
“I’m really proud of how much it’s grown and I reckon she would be as well,” he said.
Morgan’s younger brother Alec was one of the students brave enough to shave his head on Friday.
In 2016, the school raised $15,000, bringing its five-year total to more than $50,000.
Grade 4 student Mia Hedger said it was an amazing feeling to have taken part in the event.
“My head feels really bizarre,” Mia said.
“I just wanted to help people with cancer who are having a hard time.”
