Event coordinator Randall Stafford said a range of local retail and food products will be showcased from both existing businesses and a number of external stallholders.
“It’s the same as we did early in the year and late last year, so crafts, arts, food, and speciality Tasmanian beer, wine and cider,” he said.
Mr Stafford said there would be six night markets from October through to April, weather permitting, as a way to give people something to do after finishing work on a Friday night.
Twenty stallholders have signed up for the first event, including four families who are members of Launceston’s Afghani community.
The ladies and their children will cook up a storm as first-time market attendees by serving Bolani, a traditional flat-bread.
"It has flour, yeast, water, oil, potato, leek, onion, coriander, spring onions and spices,” said Zahra Khademi.
The night market will run from 5pm to 9pm at Yorktown Square.
