Each band member is a soldier first so coordinating tour dates for the men is a difficult process, Captain Alexander Stewart said.
Having the ability to continue to pursue their musical interests while serving their country is something each man enjoyed. “They are all musicians as a hobby, so they continue practicing and playing in their own time because they enjoy the music,” Captain Stewart said.
With more than 350 years of history, the regiment has found great success with their number one and best selling singles. “There are a number of tunes that people will almost expect us to play and amazing Grace will definitely be one of them,” Captain Stewart said.
An ensemble of classic pipe tunes and modern arrangements is set to give Launcestonians a rare insight into the talent and stature of one of Scotland’s greatest bands.
“We have thrown a few more modern [songs] and slightly different [songs] to mix it up a bit, so I think there will be a few surprises for people,” Captain Stewart said. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards will play on November 17 at the Princess Theatre. Tickets from www.theatrenorth.com.au.
