A popular and trusted figure at Tasmanian racing venues, Mansfield is recovering from heart surgery in Hobart.
Launceston Pacing Club announced that race five on its nine-event program at Mowbray on Sunday afternoon will bear the get-well message.
It will feature some of the state’s up and coming pacers with Chopstix Boris, who has won four out of his last six starts, appearing the one to beat for Beauty Point trainer-driver Rohan Hillier.
A number of horses in the race are likely to contest some of the club’s feature races, the $10,000 Danbury Park Cup in late November and the $20,000 City of Launceston Cup on December 11.
The meeting was originally scheduled to be run on Sunday night but was transferred to the afternoon time slot at the request of Sky Racing late last month.
