The program, which supports disadvantaged students with career guidance and advice, needs 1500 more mentors across Australia to help provide students with direction.
The online program helps students in years 9 to 11 from disadvantaged communities to think about where they want to be in the future.
Launceston mentor Heather Bridgman said she found the program extremely rewarding.
“We work with children to identify their own strengths and to build on them because teenagers can find that quite difficult,” Ms Bridgman said.
“You have an hour session at the same time each week and you chat online and it’s a private chat space – then you try to get them to start to think about careers.
“When you get the feedback from the kids, you can tell you’re making a difference and I really feel like I’m giving back.”
The Smith Family is calling for supportive mentors who have good communication skills.
