Volunteer Anita Kidd said the event aimed to highlight discrimination against indigenous Australians, while raising money for Amnesty’s campaign to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The film tells the stories of the inmates of Berrimah Prison in the Northern Territory through the songs they have written.
“Amnesty action groups across Tasmania are meeting with their local representatives over the coming months, asking them to champion our state’s model of justice reform and push for investment in indigenous led solutions at a national level,” Mrs Kidd said.
The event is on Saturday, October 29 from 1.30 to 3.30pm at Maggie’s, Pilgrim United Church on Paterson Street. Tickets are $12 and for catering purposes RSVP to 0418562082 today.
