Club captain Mark Poulson won B-grade over Braidy Squires and Jim Magliarditi won C-grade against Richard Clifford. Steve Hansen won the A-grade handicap against Mathew Kerrison at the 23rd hole, John Stoianou defeated Gary Saunders in B-grade and John Triffitt took down David Leamey in C-grade.

Mitch Van Noord defeated Greg Longmore 3-2 to win his third Launceston Golf Club championship on Sunday. Alex Masters won the A-grade handicap over Zac Bird, Mick Elmer defeated Greg Levett in B-grade and Peter Godfrey got over Jason Cocker in the handicap.

Ky Rankin was 2 under par early against Tony Powell in C-grade before winning comfortably, while Roger Murray won the handicap against Ian Pattinson.

Golf Tasmania has named successful applicants for the 2016-2017 regional development squad.

Dylan Backhouse, Gus Burrell, Hallie Meaburn, Georgia Milbourne, Daniel North, Tom North, Tim Smith, Lachlan White and Mackenzie Wilson will work with coach Christian Rainey in the South, while Bryce Gorham will guide Jack Blair, Lily Caelli, James Fiddian, Riley Krushka, Joshua Molendyk, Thomas Rehrmann, Ryan Thomas in the North.

In the North-West, Zac Rollins will oversee Jack Lakin and Brady Ludbey.

The program provides development opportunities and access to specific resources to players in a bid to create a pathway for players to progress on to state and national squad selection.

Each squad will be provided with about 18 training sessions per year, ranging from technical advice, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and physio.

Launceston will hold its November Open Tournament on Sunday, November 13 with a 36-hole Toogood Trophy and Athol Shepherd Trophy events.

There will also be 18-hole stroke and handicap events for men, women, seniors and juniors.

Northern Golf’s Rick Sindorff said a capacity field had entered City Week at Bicheno on December 5 and 6. Any additional entries will go onto a waiting list.

Riverside Golf Club will host the 106th Northern Championships on Sunday, December 11. Events on the program are the Northern men’s, colts, junior and senior championships along with the women’s, seniors, junior and teams events. There will also be the B-grade and C-grade titles.
