This comes after ABC’s Four Corners on Monday night spoke to two former staff members with Safe Pathways who asserted that they did not have adequate training and were not given enough financial resources for children under their care.
The government contracts the provider to care for children at the cost of $9300 per child.
Human Services Minister Jacqui Petrusma said yesterday that 11 Tasmanian children were still under the care of Safe Pathways and each of them had been contacted by the Human Services Department by Wednesday afternoon
The department had been investigating the allegations against Safe Pathways after complaints were lodged with it in August and October.
The government is today expected to bring on debate on a plan to extend its six-month mandatory sentencing for assaults on police officers legislation to other frontline workers including paramedics, prison officers, and nurses.
