The Examiner's Empty Stocking Appeal has been raising money for Launceston's four leading charities for the past 108 years.
More than $57,000 was raised last year with funds going directly to the Launceston Benevolent Society, Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and City Mission to help continue their work within the local community.
This year, the appeal has a target of between $50,000 and $75,000.
“It really takes the pressure off of us and allows us to help the general public who may be doing it tough this time of year,” Launceston Benevolent Society chief executive John Stuart said.
“[Christmas] is a lovely time of the year to be able to help people.”
Donations can be made at The Examiner office or in collection tins located at various businesses across the CBD until late December.
