IT business consultant Michael Rathjen had a jog along the Bridport Walking Track on Saturday and, hearing about the fun run the following day, decided to enter even though the little over 10-kilometre course that he completed in 41 minutes 21 seconds was much shorter than his usual distance.
“I normally run between 50 and 100 kilometres, but it was a nice workout,” Rathjen said.
“And the course is fantastic especially coming down the hill and looking out to sea, but I had a bit more time to enjoy the view on my jog.”
Local teacher Danielle Krushka won the women’s event saying the south-easterly wind kept her cool.
Another Bridport entry Liam Arnold took out the junior section and a team from Newstead Athletics club had the quickest aggregate time for four runners.
The fun run is the finale for the North East Rivers Festival.
