Held at Elphin Sports Centre and St Patrick’s College, the tournament catered for boys and girls from grades 5 and 6.
After 80-plus matches on Saturday, Sunday showed little sign of letting up with action from as early as 7.10am and continuing at both venues due to mid-afternoon.
A North-West regional tournament for Grades 3 to 6 was run simultaneously at Burnie and Penguin basketball stadiums.
Another is being held in the South with Basketball Tasmania chief executive Chris McCoy saying across the three tournaments a record 240 teams had entered.
More than half of those came from Launceston with 125 teams signing up and prompting organisers to split the tournament into two age groups with Grade 3-4 held last weekend.
The top three Division 1 teams qualify for the state tournament on November 19 and 20.
Next weekend will see the state high school regional tournaments held.
Newstead will join Elphin and St Patrick’s College in the North while Burnie will again be the main focus for the North-West with the South played at Clarence and Kingborbough.
The tournaments are for senior (Year 9 and 10) and junior boys and girls (Year 7 and 8).
