The iconic river race was held again on Saturday as part of the 10th annual North-East Rivers Festival.
This year, the raft race was coordinated by 17-year-old Callum Bensemann.
“It’s such a unique event and if it hadn’t started, then it wouldn’t have grown into the festival and we wouldn’t have the money it brings into the region,” Mr Bensemann said.
“It has become much more family friendly and now we have the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails as well, so the region has really been resurrected through these events.”
The North-East Rivers Festival, which is held across two weekends, will continue on Sunday with the Bridport fun run and the Legerwood Lane Hillclimb.
“It really puts the North-East on the map. It encompasses all of the towns of the North-East and offers something for all ages,” festival director Lynden Russell said.
“We try to promote healthy outdoor activities and encourage people to get out and enjoy activities with their families.
“We hope the event continues to grow and grow.”
