With people travelling from the mainland and across Tasmania, the Launceston Model Railway Show saw hundreds flock through the doors for the first day of the not-for-profit event on Saturday.
“Whether it's a young child playing with a Thomas the Tank Engine on the dining room table or somebody in their 60s with 50 years experience behind them, everything [at the show] is appropriate...it’s designed to not only entertain but to inspire,” exhibition manager Eamonn Seddon said.
“It’s a fascinating hobby because there's a whole plethora of skills that people use to create their model railways.
“We’re already planning next year’s event.”
Visitors to the 2016 show will find about 13 model railways set up at the venue as well as trader exhibitions and demonstrations.
The show will continue on Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm with tickets available at the door.
