The video is the result of a collaboration between the Tasmanian Health Service and specialist medical recruitment company Wavelength International.
The THS would not confirm the cost of production on Friday. A THS spokesman said the recruitment strategy was “designed to attract the very best in applicants by showcasing the many benefits of living and working in Northern Tasmania”.
"When compared with the cost of locums, this is an extremely cost-effective strategy,” the spokesman said.
He said the positions were difficult to recruit for and “international campaigns” were required to reach the right candidates. The Wavelength site said the agency was recruiting for two Emergency Medicine Consultant roles and a Director of Emergency Medicine Training for the LGH.
The LGH video featured Director of Emergency Medicine Dr Lucy Reed.
“This is the best ED in Tasmania – it’s something different every day,” Dr Reed said in the video.
Wavelength head of marketing Wendy Cavell said the video aimed to “really highlight the work of the department, the team and the lifestyle on offer”.
“It is early days, but we have already had a great response with people replying from all over the globe,” Ms Cavell said. The video production team said the production was creatively and personally rewarding.
