This Saturday night, Gulf Western Oils Speedway near Latrobe hosts the first race meeting of the new season.

A huge entry list includes a massive 22-car Street Stocks field with Corey Bauld fresh from last weekend’s win ahead of Ben Riley and Dale Riley Jr. Challenges are sure to come from Darrell Jeffrey and Nick Anderson.

The ever-spectacular Sprintcars have their first race meeting for the season. A field of 14 fabulous Kings of Wings includes Gerry Hoekstra who destroyed his car last weekend. His crew have built a new car and he is looking for retribution. Adrian and Jason Redpath always excel on their home track and are eager for early season points but will encounter strong challenges by Curt Smith, Kurt Luttrell and others.

The Junior Sedan racing last weekend was fantastic. Joe Dickerson beat Ellis Dickenson for the win with Claire Coleman in third, and these three will be at the sharp end of the field again.

Formula 500s have a good contingent of fast drivers including Marcus Kelly and Dylan Beveridge. James Amicosante returns after mechanical ills ended his weekend prematurely at Carrick.

Tassie Sixes will race with Adrian Whickam. He will be battling the hard charging Mick Davey and Peter Johnstone.

The big field of Wingless Sprints includes Luke Redpath keen for victory on his home track. Adding to the interest is Sprintcar stalwart Robin Dawkins in his first wingless race. Current Tasmanian Champion Brad Whitchurch is eager to go wheel to wheel with the Sprintcar champion.
