The Holden Scramble regional finals were held at Mowbray last week. Prospect Vale won the women’s final with the team of PGA Professional Bryce Gorham, Tammy Hall, Diedre Panton, Sally Gibb and Penny Hewitt. Home team Mowbray came out on top in the open final and its players were PGA Professional Brent Barlow, his wife Belinda Barlow, Terence Clark, James Pyke and Sheena French. Both teams are off to the Championship finals at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast November 25 to 28.

Tasmania Golf Club’s Georgia Milbourne had a convincing win in the Tasmanian Business Womens’ Open Tournament for the fourth consecutive year with a superb 73 at Mowbray on Sunday. Nineteen competitors teed off and Milbourne, a state junior and senior representative, was in outstanding form, winning by six shots from Kalynda Cowen of Penguin who returned 79. Riverside’s Amanda Smith was third in the gross event with an 82. Milbourne also won the Division One nett with 72 ahead of Bridport’s Raylene Taylor with 73. Liz Young of Launceston won the Division Two gross and Olivia Grifiths of Mowbray was runner up. The Division Two nett went to Alex Hansen of Riverside with Annette Hibbs of Launceston runner up. Riverside’s Alex Hansen won the junior nett with 73 and the team event was won by Mowbray with Glenda Embery carding 74 and Helen Finn 75. Prospect Vale were runners up.
Golf Tasmania has announced the eight junior golfers that will represent the state at the Jack Newton Junior Golf Student Championship in Sydney November 14 to 17. The team is Jorjah Bailey Mowbray, Alexandria Hansen, Riverside, Ryan Thomas, Prospect Vale, Jack Lakin, Stanley, Lachlan White, Tasmania, Hallie Meaburn, Royal Hobart, Mackenzie Wilson, Tasmania, and Dylan Backhouse Tea Tree.

Mitch Van Noord carded 65 and 67 at Launceston Golf Club to qualify for the A grade championship and plays Greg Longmore in the final. Mick Elmer plays Greg Levett for B grade and Tony Powell meets junior Ky Rankin in C grade. At Riverside Simon Rossiter is defending club champion and plays Andrew McCarthy in the final. Braidy Squires plays club captain Mark Poulson in B Grade and Jim Magliarditi plays Richard Clifford for the C grade title. Mowbray plays the first rounds of their club championships on Sunday.
