Competing against butchers from across Tasmania, the owner of Nigel’s Gourmet on Tamar was awarded first place in the gourmet category at the Australian Meat Industry Council Regional Sausage King Competition.
He secured the top spot with his unique pork, pear and parmesan sausage.
The sausage connoisseur also managed a double win in the Australian Lamb category with first place for his lamb, feta and beetroot sausage and second place for his lamb, spinach and feta sausage.
With more than 25 years experience in the industry, the award winning butcher says his success comes down to putting love into his work and a little bit of luck.
“We try to think outside the square and think of flavours that could go well together,” he said.
Priding himself on a unique product, Nigel offers everything from traditional beef to cherry ripe flavoured sausages.
