Exhibition curator Maureen Martin Ferris said the exhibition told the story of Cornwall’s John Mitchell and Catherine Keast, who married in Hobart in 1939 before eventually settling in Lisdillon on the state's East Coast.
The Mitchells had 10 children, the penultimate of whom documented the family’s history by keeping diaries from the age of 13 to 92.
“Sarah is a remarkable lady because of the legacy she's left behind, she's left all her scrapbooks and sketches,” Mrs Martin Ferris said.
“There's a series of scrapbooks, we have one but there are about four or five more in the University (of Tasmania).”
The exhibition was opened by a descendant of the family - also John Mitchell - and will run until Christmas.
